A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Indiana Funeral Care; Harry W Moore Chapel from 4-8 pm. Another brief visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 11-12, with a service starting at 12. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

George Allen Johantges, 70, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 4, 2017. He was born on December 6, 1946 to the late Carl and Annabelle Johantges.

George was a graduate of Cathedral High School, attended Vincennes University and graduated from the Indiana School of Mortuary Science. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Pius X Council, and achieved the title of Grand Knight. For over 40 years, George was a dedicated Funeral Director and served countless families. One of George’s most treasured accomplishments however, was being a friend of Bill W. for 26 years.

On June 3, 1967 George married his wife, Deborah with whom he raised 2 sons. He was also a loving grandfather to his grandsons.

George is survived by: his wife, Deborah Johantges; son, Chris (Megan); former daughter-in-law, Carol Johantges; grandchildren, Brandon, Cameron, Anthony, and baby George Allen Eskild Johantges, who is due to arrive in October; siblings, Carl, Lee Anne Pruitt, John and Frank; brother-in-law, Rick Sanders; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Annabelle; his son, Stephen and granddaughter, Reagan Hope.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Indiana Funeral Care; Harry W Moore Chapel from 4-8 pm. Another brief visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 11-12, with a service starting at 12. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care.
